Already popular in their native South Africa, Ladysmith Black Mambazo burst on the American scene in 1986 with their appearance in Paul Simon’s seminal Graceland recording, winner of the Grammy award for Best Album of the Year. Since then the group has gone on to win three Grammys of their own, given concerts across the globe, and performed with a host of guest artists including Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Dolly Parton, Sarah McLachlan among many others. They have been featured in the soundtracks for The Lion King Part 2, Invictus, and Cry the Beloved Country, and are well known for their ”Lifesavers” commercials.
