About Acquisitions
The Acquisitions Department is a unit of Technical Services located on the first floor of the Oliveira Library. The purpose of Acquisitions is to support the mission and goals of the University by ordering, receiving and processing print and audiovisual materials that meet the instructional, research and curricular needs of students, faculty and staff. Some responsibilities of Acquisitions include: assessing vendors, utilizing allotted library book budget in a cost-effective manner, creating various reports and statistics, processing new material in a timely manner and notification of new arrivals to students, faculty and staff. During late 2010, responsibilities expanded to include management of gifts and donations as well as to establish and manage a Collection Development Team for the library.
The Acquisitions team consists of one librarian and two student part-time employees to oversee its functions.
