The Cataloging Department meets the mission and educational and research objectives of the University by cataloging all material in accordance with professional standards, providing regular maintenance of the library catalog such as adding records to or withdrawing records from the catalog to ensure patron access to the most up-to-date information, and maintaining a procedures manual of locally developed cataloging practices as well as generating various statistical reports. The Library uses the Library of Congress Classification in original and copy cataloging. This department is also responsible for the organization of Federal documents received through the Federal Depository Library Program.
