Bachelor’s degree in arts and sciences with an emphasis in computers from The University of Texas at Brownsville
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
The Information Security Officer reports to the Provost of the university and is responsible for the Information Security Program, including annual
information security risk assessment, monthly and quarterly reports to the Department of Information
Resources and UT System; specifies and requires use of appropriate security software such as anti-virus,
firewall, configuration management and other security related software on computing devices owned by UTB;
is a member of the corporate compliance committee; and ensures that high-level information security awareness
training is included in first-time compliance training for all employees.
Previous Positions and Where:
Christopher Cohen came to UTB after serving in the U.S.
Army as a computer parts and records specialist. He has held various positions at UTB, including computer user specialist
and security analyst.
