Participant Eligibility for Program Services
To receive assistance, students eligible to participate in SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Enrolled, attending and have declared a four-year degree plan at UTB
- College Ready (have passed all sections of the compass)
- U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident
- Highly motivated to receive a Bachelor’s degree in 4-6 years
- In need of Academic Support (indicators are listed below)
1) Low college grades
2) Out of school academic pipeline for 5 or more years
3) Limited English proficiency
4) Lack of educational and/or career goals
5) Lack of academic preparedness for college level course work
6) Need for academic support to raise grades in required major)
- Applicants must also meet at least one of the following:
- First generation college student (neither parent has received a four-year degree from a university or college)
- Low Income (determined by family size and taxable income)
- And/or have a documented disability(Registered with UTB Disability Services)
REQUIRED PAPERWORK TO APPLY FOR SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E.
- Income tax paperwork for the year PRIOR to applying for the program
- Extra income paperwork (child support, social security, etc.)
- Student Aid Report (can be obtained from Financial Aid or http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ )
- A signed Four Year Degree Plan with advisor signature
- Unofficial Transcript (print from Scorpion Online)
- Completed and signed Application
*Please note that students applying for the SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. program must have passed all sections of the COMPASS.
*Students must be willing to take 24 credits each academic year.
*Acceptance into SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. is competitive
