Who can receive help from the Student Athlete Guide?
The Student Athlete Guide assists student-athletes. Student-athletes are UTB student members of the following teams: Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Golf, Men’s Golf and/or Baseball.
When is the best time during the semester to meet with the Student Athlete Guide?
The best time to meet with the Student Athlete Guide is before early registration. At this time, the student-athlete can work on a mock schedule and check for holds or block. Student-athletes that are on their last semester before graduation are recommended to see the Student Athlete Guide early in the semester to verify that all the requirements for graduation are met or are in progress. It is always important that student-athletes meet with the Student Athlete Guide at any time during the semester if they have any concerns and/or questions.
Can the Student Athlete Guide help student-athletes with the selection of classes?
Yes, the Student Athlete Guide can help student-athletes with class selection based on a copy of the student-athlete’s signed degree plan.
Who can help transfer student-athletes with credits from another institution?
The Student Athlete Guide assists student-athletes with this process; however, the Admissions Office ultimately, assigns the accepted transfer credits based on official transcripts.
How will a student-athlete know how long it will take to graduate?
The student-athlete can only speculate the number of semesters it will take to graduate by counting the number of credits not yet completed in the degree plan and dividing them by the number of hours the student usually enrolls per semester (12 or 15). However, a student-athlete attending classes during the summer and May session will complete the program of study sooner.
Can eligibility to play be determined by the Student Athlete Guide?
No, the Student Athlete Guide can give student-athletes a general overview. However, only the coach is able to determine official eligibility.
Can the Student Athlete Guide provide information regarding athletic scholarships?
No, only the Athletic Department handles this information. Occasionally, Athletics shares this information with the Student Athlete Guide on an individual basis.
Can the Student Athlete Guide inform student-athletes about tutoring and other services on campus?
Yes, one of the main functions of the Student Athlete Guide is to provide information that will benefit the student-athlete in their academic path.
