Dear Faculty Colleague:

The Center for Civic Engagement is planning to introduce a new initiative this fall called "The Scholarship of Community Engagement" which will encourage research and scholarly activity in the fields of service learning and civic engagement.

The goal of the initiative is to produce new knowledge for the community that would be published in recognized scholarly journals.  The Center plans to use a variety of incentives including research stipends, best paper awards and student research assistants to encourage interested faculty to conduct community-based research using service learning experiences.

In the meantime, due to submission deadlines, the Center is offering one (1) $500 research and travel stipend to a faculty whose paper is accepted for presentation at either of the civic engagement conferences below.  More stipends are planned for the new academic year.  Click on the links to learn submission requirements.
