Biography:

Dr. Huerta joined the faculty of the Behavioral Sciences Department in spring 2006. She received her B.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, her M.S. from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, and her Psy.D. from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Huerta was the director of the Counseling Center on the UTB/TSC campus. In addition to working in college counseling centers, Dr. Huerta has worked as a clinician in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Huerta is a licensed professional counselor and a provisionally licensed psychologist. Dr. Huerta teaches Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Developmental Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Behavior Modification and Management, and Health Psychology. Dr. Huerta’s research interests are in the area of dating and intimate relationships, and cultural definitions of psychopathology.
