Dr. Sherry McCullough joined the faculty of the Behavioral Sciences Department in fall of 1991. She is currently an Associate Professor. She received her MSW from the University of Oklahoma, School of Social Work in 1987 and her Ph. D. in sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 1991. Dr. McCullough teaches a wide range of sociology at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including Population and Migration, Health, Aging, American Minorities and Gender. Her research interests are in the area of student retention.

Dr. McCullough also teaches Introduction to Social Welfare and Social Welfare in Institutions and Legislation in the UT-B Associate Degree in social work. She has also worked to help bring to UT-B a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in social work, in cooperation with UTPA. Both of these programs started on the Brownsville campus in the fall of 2010. She is currently teaching part-time in the MSSW program for UTPA.
