Below are the general operating policies of the Criminal Justice Department. The policies of the department are not designed with the intent to interfere, in any way, with the policies that faculty members adopt for the courses they teach. Nor are the policy statements designed to be all-inclusive; there are informal department policies that govern the behavior of the department chair, faculty, and students. The department will choose to codify its operational policies as needed. Policy-making in the department may occur at different levels. The department chair is responsible for developing policy related to processes and procedures needed to carry out the duties of the Chair position. All other formal departmental policy is left to the faculty and passage of a new policy requires a majority vote of the faculty.
