The Criminal Justice Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College is committed to providing a quality educational opportunity for all students interested in a professional criminal justice career. The faculty recognizes the importance of a positive and open learning environment where students are allowed to achieve their personal, academic and professional goals. The department and faculty are committed to the preparation of graduates to be competitive at all entry level positions in the criminal justice system. These positions include, but are not limited to, law enforcement, parole and probation, corrections, juvenile justice. Graduate study has the highest departmental priority.
All graduates of the criminal justice program will be professional practitioners who are literate, articulate, critical thinkers, scientifically evaluative and able to make theoretical applications to practical situations.
