English Graduate Advancement and Development Society Conference

On February 20, 2010, the English Graduate Advancement and Development Society, the English graduate student association at The University of Texas at Brownsville, hosted its first undergraduate-graduate academic conference in English studies with resounding success.

The conference boasted 28 undergraduate and graduate student presenters from UTB, The University of Texas-Pan American, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M-Kingsville, University of Houston, University of Central Oklahoma, and local area high schools: Lopez HS in Brownsville, San Benito Veterans' Memorial Academy and Harlingen High School South.

English graduate faculty and other UTB faculty and administrators attended, as well as other members of the university and local community. Dr. Charles Dameron, vice president for Academic Affairs, was the keynote speaker.

The English Department would like to extend its hearty congratulations to the hard-working EGADS! members who worked tirelessly to make this conference such a success. EGADS! plans to make the conference an annual event.
