Resources to fund the Center are secured primarily through grants, foundations, donors, and contracts. At the same time CEDI will aggressively continue seeking external funding to conduct research and use its current resources to leverage additional funds. Total external funding for Center initiatives from 2004-present for the teaching, service and research efforts has attracted a total of 66 grants totaling $22 million in external funding from different federal, state, and foundation agencies.

Assignments

Pre Award Assignments:

o Prepare grant proposal packet.

o Assist with securing external commitments.

o Review grant proposal packet for institutional and funding agency requirements and compliance.

o Collect demographic data and information.

o Write and/or proofread grant proposal.

o Assists with budget development and review proposal budget for accuracy.

o Obtain institutional approval prior to submission.

o Upload and submit proposals electronically to funding agency.

o Mail grant proposal packet to funding agency.

o Prepare award packet for account setup.

o Review funding announcement for accuracy.

o Coordinate training on grants/contracts processes and responsibilities.

o Assist Department Chair with project and budget over-sight responsibilities.

o Maintain copies of all communications with University.

Post Award Assignments:

o Provide financial management regarding personnel hires, budget expenditures, and ensure that all expenditures are directly related to the project or contract and necessary to meet project goals and objectives.

o Monitor any sub-recipients of project or contract to ensure that programmatically and financially the sub-recipient is meeting project goals and objectives while adhering to agency regulations.

o Obtain understanding of university personnel policies and procedures before hiring personnel assigned to the project or contract.

o Acknowledge requirements for cost sharing that were stated in the project or contract and ensure that requirements are met.

o Maintain timely and accurate time and effort reports and ensure that personnel paid through the project or contracts have performed at the level of effort stated.

o Disclose to Chair any conflict of interest that would affect project.

o Ensure that university policies for Intellectual Property, Human Subjects, Animal Care and Use, and Institutional Bio Safety are followed, if applicable.

o Submit all reports on a timely basis.
