Paragraph Writing Handbook
One of the most important skills that we can give our students is the
ability to communicate with clear, coherent writing. This is certainly a skill that will give our graduates an advantage when seeking jobs, and a skill that employers typically find lacking in college graduates. But the importance of clear writing may be even greater; it may be a skill that is a prerequisite for clear thinking and meaningful learning.
The Paragraph Writing Team has prepared handbooks for faculty and students that explain the process of writing effective paragraphs and assessing them through the use of recommended markup language. Included in the handbook for instructors are suggested rubrics for faculty to use outright or to guide them in building their own, making student expectations clear and faculty grading efficient.
