ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Students, clinicians, and faculty are encouraged to submit evidence-based presentation abstract applications for review. Volunteer faculty will review applications appreciating applicant’s different levels of education and experience. The goal is to encourage novice and expert applicants to share their evidence-based work and provide a learning experience for all participants.

  1. Before you submit your abstract click on the link to review the abstract review criteria: Abstract Review Criteria
  2. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FORM: Abstract Submission Closed. Abstracts were due on November 15, 2011
  3. Most of the items on the form are self-explanatory, but if you have questions contact us by email at CNE@utb.edu or call 956 882 5070.
  4. You are able to review the form at the submission link. You will be asked to provide the following information in order to submit the form:
    • Title of the Project
    • Presenter Name/Group: Please list all group members and their credentials
    • If there is a group presentation, one person should be identified as the contact.
    • Select the best possible choice for the presenter: Student, Faculty, or Clinician. This is a required field. If none of these options is correct, select the best possible option.
    • Select your highest degree held. If currently a student select the option that best suits the program. This is a required field. If none of these options is correct, select the best possible option.
    • Provide an email that is monitored frequently. All correspondence will occur through email.
    • Provide the best phone number to use to contact the presenter(s).
    • Indicate whether the project/study is complete or in progress. Only completed projects/studies will be accepted for oral presentation. Accepted projects/studies that are in progress but incomplete will be offered poster presentation space.
    • Next Select the Abstract Type:
      A. PROJECT = Clinical Project or Capstone: Use A Project Abstract Form
      B. STUDY = Research Study or Proposal: Use B Project Abstract Form
    • Complete the Correct Abstract Form A or B; A for a Project OR B for a Study.
    1. Project Abstract Form Instructions: Use this form if you are submitting a clinical or capstone project abstract. The total word count for the abstract should be between 200 and 300 words.
      1. Practice Problem/Project Purpose: How do you know this is a problem? Is there any evidence that this is a problem somewhere else?
      2. Intervention: (Target population, setting, intervention plan); What did you do or want to do?
      3. Evaluation Plan: How will you know if you are successful?
      4. Results (if completed): What happened?
      5. Implications for Nursing Practice
    2. Study Abstract Form Instructions: Use this form if you submitting a research study or research proposal abstract. The total word count for the abstract should be between 200 and 300 words.
      1. Problem/Study Purpose: How do you know this is a problem? Is there any evidence that this is a problem somewhere else?
      2. Research Question/Hypothesis: (Target population, intervention, comparison, and outcome? What question do you want to answer?
      3. Methods (design, sample, setting, intervention, analysis plan)
      4. Results (if completed): What happened?
      5. Nursing Implications: Why is this evidence-based study important in your nursing practice and to the people we serve?
  5. When you are finished with the form, click Submit.
  6. Acceptance for oral or poster presentations will be sent by email to the email address on the submission form.
