Responsibilities:

Rene manages the University’s compliance program and is Vice Chair of the Institutional Compliance Committee. In these capacities, he is responsible for creating an atmosphere of compliance awareness so that all employees may conduct themselves ethically and abide by all applicable laws, rules and regulations while executing their functions.

Previous EXPERIENCe:

Prior to joining the University, Rene served as internal auditor in the private sector, overseeing risk management and compliance functions for eleven banks from Brownsville to Corpus Christi.  He was responsible in performing operational, financial and compliance audits within each institution.  Rene also served as Loan Analyst, responsible for performing credit and collateral analysis on commercial borrowers, evaluate and analyze the financial statements of borrowers and performing loan concentration analysis of loans issued to demographical areas.  Currently, Rene is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and member of the Association of College and University Auditors.
