Scope: The University of Texas at Brownsville’s College of Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions is seeking a Director/Senior Faculty to develop a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Education: Doctoral degree is required. Must possess a current license in physical therapy.
Experience: Experience in higher education that would qualify hiring into a senior faculty position. It is preferred that the candidate have experience with CAPTE accreditation and significant clinical experience as a physical therapist.

Position Number: FY 11-80
Reports to: Dean, School of Business
Scope: Teach graduate/undergraduate courses, engage in scholarly research/publications and provide professional service. The Chair is responsible for the department administration and focus on program management, course scheduling, student academic issues, faculty evaluation and participation in university, school and community activities. Education: PhD or DBA in Accounting from an AACSB International or equivalently accredited institution is required. Scope: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bilingual education, biliteracy and intercultural education (Spanish/English); demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written Spanish; develop/maintain an active research/publication record; advise students; collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs; participate in school/university collaborations; pursue an external funding agenda; and incorporate technology into coursework. This is a full-time Tenure Track position to begin employment Fall 2012. This position is contingent upon funding.
Education: Earned doctorate in bilingual education, biliteracy, intercultural/global education or closely related field is required.
Experience: Three years teaching experience with language minority populations (Spanish/English) is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in bilingual teacher education and demonstrated record of scholarly and funded research in the area of bilingual, biliteracy and intercultural/global education. National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) experience is a plus.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Counseling and Guidance (2 Positions)
Position Number: FY 11-67
Reports to: Chairperson of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies Department
Scope: To teach graduate courses in CACREP accredited program in Counseling and Guidance, advise graduate students, serve on university committees. This is a Full-Time Tenure Track position offered for Fall 2012. Responsibilities include teaching master’s level counseling courses, supervising practicum students at off campus sites and university training lab, advising, program development, scholarly activities and participating in university and professional activities.
Education: Earned doctorate Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or related area. Doctorate from a CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) approved program is preferred.
Experience: Demonstrated success in school counseling, university counseling center or community counseling agency experience is required. Successful University teaching is preferred. Responsibilities include teaching graduate level counseling courses, supervising practicum students, advising and program development. Scholarly activities and participation in university and professional activities will be expected. The candidate should be licensed or eligible for licensure in Texas. Candidate must be able to work with a majority of Hispanic student population.

Clinical Assistant Professor – UTeach Brownsville

Reports to: Co-Director of Teach Brownsville
Scope: The UTeach Brownsville Program at The University of Texas at Brownsville has an immediate opening for a non-tenure track position starting January 2012. Person appointed to this position will need to be thoroughly committed to the success of implementing and maintaining a quality teacher-preparation program.
Duties: Responsibilities involve participation in teaching and/or supervisory undergraduate students in courses and experiences related to field-based teacher development. Primary responsibilities include teaching field-based courses students take in their pursuit of certification, working with local area public school teachers who act as mentors for the students, and conducting field observations of the students. Additional duties will include student mentoring and other programmatically related tasks.
Education: Master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is required.
Experience: Five years experience as a secondary classroom teacher with a preference to public school experience is required. In addition applicants must have content knowledge in mathematics and/or science, and be recognized leaders in the local school districts with extensive knowledge of key district mathematics and science personnel, curriculum, and district policies and procedures.

Scope: The position is for a full-time Lecturer and will have all the responsibilities of the position as specified by our institutional policies. The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate mathematics courses and participate in projects that relate to teaching mathematics and the departmental and college strategic plans. Additionally, advising responsibilities will include meeting with students periodically to monitor and communicate progress. Other duties will be assigned as needed.
Education: Master’s degree in Mathematics is required.
Experience: This position requires three years of teaching at the college level and full-time teaching experience at the highest level preferred. Additional preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in innovative teaching by using technologies.
