FOR UTB/TSC Employees
The following are Wellness Sessions offered free of charge to UTB/TSC Employees beginning September 14, 2009*.

Cardio, Power and Dance it Off!!! Mondays & Wednesdays 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. REK 1.532 Exercise sessions will consists of the combination of cardio training, strength conditioning and basic dance movement activities at the beginner level that will help you improve fitness and lower body fat. Open to UTB/TSC employees participating in the “Get Moving” campus campaign for wellness. REK membership is not required to participate. Bujinkan Taijutsu Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. REK 1.532 This is a Japanese martial art system designed for self-defense. Classes are held in a relaxed and non-competitive atmosphere and will be a chance for people at all fitness levels to enjoy learning self defense skills while starting to "Get Moving." No experience necessary and beginners are welcome. REK membership is not required to participate. First Things First: How to Get Started with a New Exercise Program 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Dr. David Wittenburg This session will focus on key things you will need to do before beginning an exercise program. We will also be discussing the Get Moving Program. Helpful hints for basic to intermediate walking programs will be covered to get you on the way to a healthier lifestyle. |

Resistance Training Prescription and Proper Weight Lifting Techniques 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Dr. Murat Karabu This session will focus on the benefits of resistance training, resistance training prescription, and proper lifting techniques. |

Eating Towards Good Health and Fitness 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Dr. Christopher M. Ledingham This session will focus on developing healthy eating plan to match a new exercise regimen. |

Racquet Sports and You 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Mr. Jack Loff This session will focus on the wide variety of racquet sports and the basics to get you started with everything from ping pong- to pington-to tennis. |

NOV 23 |
Avoiding the Holiday Weight Gain 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Dr. Eric James This session will focus on methods of healthier eating and maintaining your exercise regimen through the Holiday season. |

DEC 07 |
Creating Your Own Home Gym 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. (REK 2.654) Presenter: Mr. Gonzalo Garza Jr. This session will focus on simple techniques and strategies which can be used to create your own home workout space. |
Get Moving Seminars are offered by UTB/TSC Campus Recreation. Open to UTB/TSC employees participating in the “Get Moving” campus campaign for wellness. REK membership is not required to participate.
