Swine Flu Information

Use preventive measures as flu season approaches

The Centers for Disease Control has the following ways to prevent the spread of H1N1:

  • Practice social distancing. Avoid hugging and other customary greetings, such as a kiss on the cheek.
  • Stay informed.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue as you sneeze or cough. Throw the tissue in the trash after it is used.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after a cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are most effective.
  • Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth because this is how germs are spread.
  • Develop a family emergency plan and stock food, medicines, facemasks, alcohol-based hand rubs and other needed supplies.

Periodic updates will be provided to the campus community via e-mail or for more information, go to http://www.utb.edu/ba/swineflu/.
