GRE COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
This section measures the student’s ability to analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it. Reading passages may include subjects in the humanities, natural sciences, or social sciences. Students also identify and evaluate relationships among words and concepts.
This section includes high school mathematics and statistics at a level that is generally no higher than a second course in algebra. It does not include trigonometry, calculus, or other higher-level mathematics. An on-screen calculator is available for computer-based tests; a calculator is provided at the test center for paper-based tests.
This section measures students’ ability to think critically and write analytically. It specifically targets the student’s ability to articulate and support complex ideas clearly and effectively.
