Please be advice that students who are currently attending another institution and are seeking to attend UT Brownsville will need to submit an undergraduate admission application as a transfer student for UT Brownsville. Q:Is there a class completion percentage requirement to qualify for financial aid?

A:

In order to qualify for Financial Aid the completion rate that students have to meet is completing 70% of their classes, and having a cumulative GPA of a 2.0. If you need further assistance please contact the Office of Financial Aid at (956)882-8277.

Q:Do i have to pay my classes by the registration payment deadline or by the add/drop payment deadline? because i'm still waiting on financial aid and i don't want my classes to be dropped

A:

Payment deadline has been extended till Monday at 5:00 p.m. If you need to make payment arrangements please contact the Accounting and Finance Department. You can contact their office at (956)882-8202.

Q:Okay so I wanted to start classes in the spring and take this semester off to save money. But my co-worker told me about taking online courses that way i wont fall behind that bad? How exactly do I do that? What are some requirements?

A:

Hello prospective student please see the link below to view the list of classes that would be available 100% online. The Course Schedule is produced within the Academic Service Center and provides the most current information available. All information, including class meeting times and locations, faculty names, and course offerings are subject to change without notice or obligation. Please make sure you search for the class you will like to take and see if it's offered online. Also be advise you will need to type the right acronym for the course you will like to take.
(Example: ENGL 1301)

Q:I see my financial package Pell Grant, SOEG grant, but do not see loans LDU or LDS, which leaves me owing money. Can you explain when I'll see the loans in my package so I know if I will be getting a refund.

A:

Please contact the office of Financial Aid at (956)882-8277, or you may stop by Main Bldg. 1.100. (at the Tower) in order for them to assist you with your Financial Aid status. Also please be advise that you will need to have your student ID available since it's a question that will need more internal assistance.

Q:Is it too late to register for classes for the fall semester?

A:

Today 8/12/14 was the last day to register via UTB online. If you are already registered and just want to change your schedule you can do so until the (add/drop) date which is 8/19/14-8/26/14. For every add/drop you make it is a $5.00 fee for each transaction.

Q:im having trouble registering. actually dont even know how to start.

A:

Ok not a problem well a prospective student must meet our admission requirements based on their applicant status. For more information go to utb.edu/ec. First time freshman will have to meet SAT/ACT requirements and submit TSI scores. Returning students will need to meet TSI Scores. Transferring students with less than 24 transferrable credit hours will need to submit SAT and/or ACT Scores and TSI scores. Transferring student with more than 24 credit hours will not need to submit any SAT and/or ACT scores but do need to submit all official transcripts from all institutions they have previously attended. Students must also be in good standing from last attending institution. If you have met all admission requirements and need one-on-one assistance registering for classes, visit the Registrars' office at our One-Stop Shop located in Main 1.100.
