Student Advising

Welcome to The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. An academic advisor will be one of the most important persons a student will meet at the university.

An academic advisor assists students with declaring a major and providing program of study degree plan.  Students receive advise on the selection of courses required for their major and assistance registering for classes.  Information will also be provide on campus resources such as academic support services (Learning Enrichment Center), services for students with disabilities, veterans, careers, personal counseling, financial aid, etc.  The advisors at the Academic Advising Center are ready to provide students with all the information needed before entering the major area of study.
