Dual Enrollment General Information
Dual enrolllment is a program that allows high school students to simultaneously earn college or vocational credit toward a postsecondary certificate or degree at UTB/TSC that will also count as credit toward a high school diploma. Dual enrollment courses are college courses. Students should understand that the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment courses may be greater than that of high school courses. In addition, dual enrollment courses become a part of a student's permanent college transcripts. Students should check with their high school guidance counselor prior to enrolling in dual enrollment courses.
Eligibility
Juniors and Seniors may become eligible based on their 10th or 11th Grade TAKS scores. They must pass the section of the TAKS that corresponds to the course for which they would like to enroll. Freshmen and Sophmore are eligible in certain school districts.
If the student has not met the TAKS requirement, he/she must take and pass one of the approved alternative exams which corresponds to the course for which the student wishes to enroll.
Students enrolled in Technical Courses as part of a Level I Certificate Program at UTB/TSC aretemporarily waived from testing requirement. Once the student enters into Academic Courses, he/she must meet the testing requirement as described below.
