B.A.T. and B.A.A.S.

The Office of Applied Technology is committed to upholding and promoting the mission of The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College and the College of Applied Technology and General Studies by providing a seamless transition from technical certificates and associate's degrees to applied baccalaureate programs in order to:
- improve the educational attainment and professional opportunities of students from diverse academic, linguistic, cultural, and economic backgrounds;
- prepare highly-skilled, well-rounded, productive graduates who contribute to their profession in an increasingly technological and diverse global community.
Goals
- Develop curriculum that promotes students’ development of critical thinking, communication, technological, leadership, and lifelong learning skills;
- Promote research-based standards and best practices for online instructional development;
- Establish partnerships with higher education, business, service, and industry communities to help inform program decisions and increase students’ postsecondary and career development opportunities;
- Engage in innovative scholarship, service, and the development of emerging technologies to identify and meet student, as well as regional, national, and international business, service, and industry needs.
