The Office of Applied Technology is committed to upholding and promoting the mission of The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College and the College of Applied Technology and General Studies by providing a seamless transition from technical certificates and associate's degrees to applied baccalaureate programs in order to:

  • improve the educational attainment and professional opportunities of students from diverse academic, linguistic, cultural, and economic backgrounds;
  • prepare highly-skilled, well-rounded, productive graduates who contribute to their profession in an increasingly technological and diverse global community.

Goals

  1. Develop curriculum that promotes students’ development of critical thinking, communication, technological, leadership, and lifelong learning skills;
  2. Promote research-based standards and best practices for online instructional development;
  3. Establish partnerships with higher education, business, service, and industry communities to help inform program decisions and increase students’ postsecondary and career development opportunities;
  4. Engage in innovative scholarship, service, and the development of emerging technologies to identify and meet student, as well as regional, national, and international business, service, and industry needs.
