TSC Challenge for excellence endowment program

  • Must attend an eligible high school for at least three years 
  • Must graduate from an eligible high school under the Recommended Curriculum or the Distinguished Achievement Curriculum, as defined by the school district 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of “B” or better upon high school graduation 
  • Must be taking college level credit courses (no remediation) at the time of initial enrollment at UTB/TSC. Students must be college ready, and 
  • Must enroll full-time (12 TSC semester credit hours or more). 

Criteria for students graduating from an unaccredited TSC district high school:

  • Must be a TSC District resident for at least three years (Brownsville, Los Fresnos and Port Isabel areas) 
  • Must attend an eligible high school for at least three years 
  • Must score at least a 1000 on the SAT, or a 21 on the ACT 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of “B” or better upon graduation from an unaccredited or home school program  
  • Must be taking college level credit courses (no remediation) at the time of initial enrollment at UTB/TSC. Student must be college ready, and
  • Must enroll full-time (12 TSC semester credit hours or more). 

To maintain eligibility, students must:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better 
  • Progress through four consecutive semesters excluding summer sessions (not interrupt studies) 
  • Enroll full-time (12 TSC semester credit hours or more), and
  • Maintain a 70% cumulative course completion rate.
