Intra-Building Wireless

The Libertad Wireless Network started as a research network project in 1997. It was available on experimental basis in SETB to facilitate Internet connectivity for teaching purposes. The first major use of wireless network was during The Border Governors' Conference. Since then, Libertad Wireless Network has dramatically expanded to provide wireless internet access to many of the academic, administrative and residential buildings as well as their relevant outdoor areas. The Libertad Wireless Network service is available for students, faculty and staff with connection speeds of up to 11Mbps.

The functionality and ease of use of Libertad Wireless Network benefits students, faculty and staff because they now have convenient access to their e-mail and study material posted on class web sites without the need of a wired network computer. They have access to important internet resources when they are away from their offices and labs.
