Network Design

ITNet is responsible for designing the LAN and WAN networks on UTB/TSC campuses. It has designed and implemented wired and wireless LANs on the main campus and the remote campuses. Most of the remote campuses are connected to the main campus via inter-building wireless links. Some of the buildings are connected using T1's, however, ITNet is looking into replacing them with cost-effective wireless links.

The main campus network design has been completely revamped to provide a gigabit backbone with a maximum of two hops to the main campus router. A watchdog system is in place to monitor the health of the main campus network and remote links.
