Description:
The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC) offers an online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree completion program. The program is for Registered Nurses (RN), who have completed a Diploma or Associate Degree, to complete a BSN education. Courses are online and designed to build on previous nursing education and experiences of the RN student. The purpose of this program is to provide a foundation in Holistic Nursing as an art and science with an emphasis on self-care and holistic care of clients, families, and communities. The program will also prepare graduates for entry into graduate nursing education and are eligible to sit for the American Holistic Nurses’ Certification Examination for baccalaureate prepared nurses.

Admission to the program requires:
- General undergraduate admission to UTB/TSC
- Associate degree or diploma in nursing (Nursing Valdiation Base)
- Completion of UTB/TSC General Education Core courses
- Current U.S. or U.S. territory Registered Nurse license
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) license
- Proof of required immunizations
- Background security clearance
Completing the B.S.N. requires:
- Maintain “current” all licenses, certifications and immunizations
- Grade of C or better in the following courses:
− 4305: Perspectives in Professional Nursing Practice
− 4407: Foundations of Holistic Nursing
− 4309: Research and Evidence Based Nursing Practice
− 4611: Health Promotion in Professional Nursing
− 4313: Transcultural Nursing
− 4615: Professional Nursing in the Community
− 4217: Issues in Professional Nursing
− 4519: Leadership in Professional Nursing
Total credit hours for the B.S.N.:
- General Education Core plus Degree Base: 51 credit hours
- Advanced placement (Nursing Validation Base): 38 credit hours
- Core B.S.N. nursing classes: 32 credit hours
- Total: 121 credit hours
