UTB/TSC Is Going Green!
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS- October 22, 2009 The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College is going green with the new online Spring Academic Course Schedule.
As part of the univeristy’s on going efforts to make an environmental impact, UTB/TSC will be doing away with its printed course schedules when it implements the Spring 2010 Academic Course Schedule that will be found at www.utb.edu/courses
"Our students voiced the need for accurate, up-to-date information and we reacted fairly quickly,” said Rene Villarreal, interim vice president for Enrollment Management. “They will now have the most accurate information at their finger tips. We now offer 95 percent of our services online; to include the Admissions Application, Financial Aid Application, register on-line, access the course catalog online and now, the course schedule!"
With the online schedule, the univeristy will save more than $13,000 the cost of printing 18,000 schedules. This new system will produce savings and lower the university’s use of paper.
“Thousands of course schedules would go unused at the end of the semesters and simply get recycled, which is good but it is better to avoid that waste,” said Meloney Linder, associate vice president for Marketing and Communication.
The new system will be found exculsively online, so the courses can constantly be updated with the most current course information. The website will also offer links to other sites that make registartion a simple process.
The university will implment its green academic course schedule for Spring 2010 registration, which will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Monday, Jan. 11. Late registration runs from Tuesday, Jan. 12 to Monday, Jan. 18.
