Filmmaker John Valadez to speak about “Prejudice and Pride: The Chicano Movement” on Monday
 
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS - SEPTEMBER 24, 2013-The University of Texas at Brownsville  will host a discussion and film screening with filmmaker John Valadez about his documentary “Prejudice and Pride”, featured on PBS “Latino Americans” series at noon Monday, Sept. 30 in the Student Union El Gran Salón. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Latino Americans is a landmark three-part, six-hour documentary series narrated by actor Benjamin Bratt and aired nationally on PBS. The series premiered on Sept. 17 with episodes on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.
 
The series can be viewed on KMBH, the local affiliate of PBS on Channel 10 (cable) and viewed online at pbs.org.
 
Latino Americans is first major documentary series for television to chronicle the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have for the past 500-plus years helped shape what is today the United States and have become, with more than 50 million people, the largest minority group in the U.S.
