Heralding the Holidays Concert Proclaims the Season of Joy
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – NOVEMBER 16, 2012 – The Music Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College will signal the beginning of the holiday season with its second annual Heralding the Holidays concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at The Arts Center.
Featuring the Master Chorale, Symphony Orchestra, Rio Bravo Wind Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and One O’Clock Jazz Band, the program will treat the audience to a wide selection of seasonal favorites.
“This concert brings the community together for an evening of holiday music performed by our talented student musicians,” said Dr. Sue Zanne Urbis, Professor and Chair of the Department of Music. “From traditional carols to lively favorites, there is something for everyone of every age at this important scholarship fundraiser. All proceeds from the concert benefit scholarships for students in the Department of Music.”
Tickets are $15 for orchestra and $10 for balcony seating. Children under 12 and students with an ID may get in for $5.
“Our students have been anticipating this event for the entire semester,” Urbis said. “Please support the efforts of our students and kick off your holidays with this wonderful celebration of music.”
Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early for the tree lighting and preconcert that start at 6:45 p.m.; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
