Family and Friends
Ceremony Instructions: All family and friends are encouraged to attend Commencement. Seating will be available behind the degree candidates on the Student Union Lawn. However, seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first come, first served basis. The ceremony will begin with the grand procession of the degree candidates at 7:45 a.m. The ceremony will last about 2½ hours. We ask that all family and friends please remain seated until the graduates have departed from the lawn of the Student Union.
During the Recessional, graduates, stage party and faculty will be led to the Palmera Lawn, behind the Biology Building, for an informal reception for graduates and guests to enjoy a light lunch, music, and photo opportunities.
Parking: Parking for visitors is available on a first come first serve basis in the Biomedical Research Building and the Main building (former EDBC). Parking decals are not required.
Services for Guests with Disabilities: People with special needs that plan to attend Commencement are advised to contact the Office of Disability Services at least a week before the ceremony. Parking for the handicapped is available at parking lots A1 and B2. It is recommended visitors arrive early to take advantage of available parking. The ceremony will have reserved seats available and cordoned off and secured by Campus Police. The seating is for guests who are deaf, use wheelchairs or walkers or have other needs. A sign language interpreter will be available on site. Graduates can request a wheelchair lift to access the stage at least a week before Commencement.
