OFFICE OF GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS
As a rapidly growing public university, The University of Texas at Brownsville must work closely with local, state, federal elected and public agency officials to achieve the university's important goals and objectives. Paramount in this mission is expanding educational opportunities and promoting state and federal initiatives to support faculty, students and diverse institutional programs.
The Office of Governmental Relations (OGR) has institutional responsibility for The University of Texas at Brownsville local, state and federal governmental relations efforts. OGR:
- Coordinates and aligns the university’s agenda with all state and federal legislative agendas
- Serves as the principal point of contact for state legislators, members of the U.S. Congress and other government officials
- Facilitates consistent communication and alignment with the University Of Texas System Offices Of Governmental Relations in Austin (UT-OGR) and the Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C. (UT-OFR)
- Provides assistance in managing complex interactions between UTB components and federal, state and local government officials
