College Completion Challenge Grant

PURPOSE:

Provide scholarships to Student Support Services Program/ASPIRE participants by helping further the educational goals of the SSSP/ASPIRE student.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicant must be classified as a First-Year Student (0-29 credit hours) or a Sophomore (30-59 credit hours). **Note: First preference is given to participants who are in their first or second year of attendance at UTB. Awards to upper classmen are contingent upon availability of funds, criteria, etc **
  • The applicant must be an “active” participant in the SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. program (according to participation requirement/agreement)
  • Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 and,
  • Currently receiving a Pell Grant Award

How to Apply

  1. Pick up application in MRCN 112.
  2. Attach a copy of your most recent UTB unofficial transcript.
  3. Obtain and attach one letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member qualified to discuss the type of student you are, and/or the personal challenges/obstacles you have overcome.
  4. Attach a one to two page typed personal statement. The statement should include:
  • A brief summary of your background.
  • Your financial need for this scholarship.
  • Obstacles that have been overcome in order to attend college.
  • What it means to be a first generation college student in your family.
  • Your academic and career goals
  • *Updates for when CCCG announcements will be made on the SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. Blackboard Organization, through email and during meetings with a SSSP/A.S.P.I.R.E. staff member.

    SELECTION:

    Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria: letter of recommendation and personal essay.
