FAQs
Q. Can I download and fill out the paperwork on my own and bring it in to rent a bike?
A. No, you must complete all paperwork at the REK Center.
Q. Can I rent a bike for a semester?
A. No, we offer daily or weekly rentals.
Q. Can I take the bike off campus?
A. Yes.
Q. Will I get a copy of the rental agreement?
A. Yes, after you complete the Rental Agreement we will email you a copy of it.
Q. What if I get a flat tire and I am on campus?
A. You can walk the bike to the REK Center and we will fix it or you can call the Campus Police non-emergency line at 882-8232 for assistance.
Q. I know there is a cleaning fee, where am I supposed to clean the bike before returning it?
A. You can clean the bike anywhere you’d like, including the pool deck when you return it. We have a hose and rags so that you can clean it at your bike return time. If you don’t have the time to clean it before returning it, we may charge you the $3 cleaning fee.
Q. What if I don’t want to leave the bike locked up on campus overnight, but cannot take it home with me?
A. You may bring the bike back to the REK before we close and we will hold the bike for you overnight, then you can pick-up your bike the next day anytime during REK Hours, just show staff an ID and your copy of rental agreement or condition report.
Q. Is there a fee for leaving the bike at the REK overnight?
A. No. We would rather keep the bike safe for you overnight during your rental term rather than have you leave it locked up somewhere that is not as safe.
Q. What if I keep the bike longer than I’m supposed to?
A. You will be charged a late return fee of $1.00/hour.
Q. Is there a wait list for bike rentals?
A. No, bikes are rented on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to call our Service Center 882-5972 frequently to find out if a bike is available, or when a bike is expected to be returned.
Q. Do you have male or female bikes?
A. Currently, we have 8 male bikes, but they come in different sizes. We have 4 smalls, 3 mediums and 1 large.
Q. What if I do a daily rental on a Friday?
A. You cannot keep the bike over the weekend. The bike rental hours are from 8am-5pm, so you would need to return the bike by 5pm that same day.
Q. What if I do a weekly rental, can I keep the bike over the weekend?
A. Yes, the bike is yours to keep for an entire week. However, you may store it overnight at the REK.
Q. Can I return a bike on a Saturday?
A. No, you need to return the bike during bike rental hours which are Monday Friday 8am-5pm.
