ACTIVE MINDS
Active Minds on campus is a student-run organization/club dedicated to providing information and awareness of mental health issues. Its mission is to utilize peer outreach to:
-
Increase students’ awareness of mental health issues
-
Provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness
-
Encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed
Facts about Active Minds
Active Minds was founded in 2001 by Alison Malmon, then a junior at the University of Pennsylvania, following the suicide of her brother, Brian, one year earlier. She wanted to combat the stigma of mental illness, encourage students who needed help to seek it early and prevent future tragedies like the one that took her brother's life.
