President's Message

Congratulations on the decision that you and your son/daughter's have made to attend The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, and welcome to the campus. Attending orientation is a wonderful way to begin becoming acquainted with the many opportunities we offer.

We are committed to your student's academic success at UTB/TSC. Excellence in teaching and learning are at the very heart of our core values. We encourage students to take advantage of the many ways to enrich their learning whether through forming study groups with other students, accessing supplemental instruction through our Learning Enrichment Center, or participating in events such as our annual research symposium.

We know that the more students are engaged on campus, the better they do in the classroom. Our university offers many different paths to help students make important connections that will benefit them throughout their educational career. We have student organizations to match any interest, including service clubs, honor societies, music ensembles, dance groups and the student newspaper. Intramural sports and cultural events also provide ample occasions to make new friends and network with faculty and staff. There are many leadership opportunities available, from Student Government to mentoring programs, and we encourage our students to begin developing skills that will serve them well after graduation.

We look forward to watching your child learn and grow both in and outside of the classroom and sharing the many traditions that make our students proud to be Scorpions.
