Program Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for the University Scholar Program:
-Submit the completed scholar application by the stated deadline
-Graduate from an accredited Rio Grande Valley public or private high school in one of the following counties: Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy, or Cameron County
-Must be a current high school senior
-Be ranked in the Top 10% of your graduating class per the 7th semester transcript and be on track to complete a recommended or distinguished achievement high school curriculum
-Must be eligible to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
-Apply to the University of Texas at Brownsville
-Receive at least a score of 1400 on the SAT or at least a score of 24 on the ACT
-If you have taken college level courses as a high school student, you must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
-Enroll in UT-Brownsville the Fall semester following your graduation from high school
-Agree to participate in the University Scholar Program; activities such as but not limited to mentoring, career inventory assessments, participating in an unpaid internship, applying for additional scholarships, and leadership and professional development workshops.
