Breathe EZ Asthma Camp
Breathe EZ Asthma Camp is a safe two-day, day camp experience for children ages 8-12 who have moderate to severe asthma. The purpose of the camp is to provide asthma education within a carefree camp setting, with the message that the future is bright and opportunities are limitless for children who learn to manage their asthma.
Camp activities include playing indoor games and crafts as well as outdoor activities such as soccer, canoeing and swimming. Children are always under the care of volunteer medical personnel from the UTB Allied Health Department, among them licensed respiratory care instructors, respiratory therapy students and emergency management services students.
Qualified medical personnel strictly monitor activities and dispense medications accordingly, while throughout the fun and play, children are instructed in asthma education.
“Our children who live with asthma need a program such as this here in the Valley,” said Darcy Carpenter, director of Breathe EZ Camp. “My colleagues are delighted to give of their time for this camp, and also this is an awesome opportunity for health-care students to participate in hands-on activities and treatment while under the guidance of instructors.”
