advanced-Level Program (rRT)
Applications for admission into the Respiratory Care program will be accepted for consideration only if the applicant:
- Has been accepted to UTB/TSC. More information on admissions is available.
- Submits a complete College of Biomedicine and Health Professions admission application by the May 30 deadline
- Submits transcripts to UTB/TSC’s Registrar’s Office verifying completion of BIOL 2301, BIOL 2302, CHEM 1305 (or higher), HPRS 1204, HPRS 1106, ENGL 1301, and MATH 1314 (or equivalent) with a grade of "C" or better, and all previously completed college work.

- Writes a one page application letter or letter of intent indicating why they are choosing respiratory care as their profession,
- Completes an interview with the program director
Applications will be accepted from September 1 to May 30. They will be reviewed by June 15 of each year and ranked by examination scores, college GPA, and score on the application letter. Admission decisions will be reached by June 15. Students will be informed of their acceptance status by July 1 by way of a letter, to the address indicated on their application. Students accepted into the program will be required to attend an orientation scheduled in July.
If there are more successful applicants than the program can accept in a given admissions period, a waiting list will be developed based on the dates of the original applications.
After selection as a program candidate but prior to beginning the program, applicants must clear a criminal background check (cost is approximately $60) and provide immunization records to UTB/TSC Student Health Services.
For practicing CRTs Wishing to become advanced level Therapists (RRT)
Respiratory Care practitioners who possess the CRT credential and who wish to obtain the advanced level (RRT) credential may apply to the Respiratory Care program to take the advanced level courses. Admission requirements for the advanced level certificate are:
- Complete an application to the Respiratory Care program
- Must have earned the CRT credential (passed CRT exam)
- Must have a GPA of 3.0
