mission Statement for MBRS RISE Program

The Mission of the Minority Biomedical Research Support, Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement reflects the mission of the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College by providing high quality educational opportunities for the enhancement of human resources through intellectual and personal growth. Also in line with the College of Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions, the program seeks to promote academic leadership, develop problem solving and critical thinking, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and effective communication. The program strives to instill in students ethical and moral values that foster professional and social responsibility. It will facilitate student and faculty involvement in systematic inquiry and scholarly activities through high-quality, innovative research that entails the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge. Its goal is to increase the number of minorities completing undergraduate degrees and continuing to Ph.D. degrees in biomedical sciences.
