SUMMER 2003 Our Great Summer Adventure: The Linda Vista Learning Project--Dr. Renee Rubin (Senior Lecturer, Curriculum and Instruction) and Dr. Veronica Galvan-Carran (Assistant Professor, Curriculum and Instruction). UTB/TSC students in three classes prepared to become teachers by helping Buena Vida elementary, middle, and high school students at the Linda Vista Family Center.

Port of Brownsville Engineering Projects--Initiative between Port of Brownsville Chief Engineer Hector Lopez and UTB/TSC engineering students, led by Mr. Mike Boster.
Buena Vida Project Women and Children's Health Clinic--Collaboration with UTB/TSC Counseling Clinic, Nursing Program, Industrial Trades and the Brownsville Housing Authority. The Center will renovate an abandoned garage for the new clinic.
Buena Vida Historical and Nature Walk--Collaboration with the City of Brownsville, Brownsville Housing Authority and many UTB/TSC faculty and staff. The walks will begin at the Cueto building (13th and Madison) and end at the Zoo. Greening of neighborhoods and homes will begin this fall.
Edelstein Park Beautification Project--Collaboration with the City Parks and Recreation for installation of new playground.
The mission of the UTB/TSC Center for Civic Engagement is to help empower and raise the quality of life for all residents of our community beginning with the Buena Vida-Downtown Neighborhood. The CCE is partnering with the City, community agencies, local businesses and volunteers to provide:(1) community-based learning for UTB/TSC students, (2) leadership, civic responsibility & family business development and (3) the greening of homes, neighborhoods and parks. The CCE's main offices will be located at the Cueto Building, located at 13th and Madison.
