the art gallery in the rusteberg building at utb/tsc presents the human experience
The Gallery in the Rusteberg Building at UTB/TSC presents “The Human Experience.” This opening exhibit will display the works of talented, vivid, up-and-coming future UTB/TSC graduates: Matthew J. Garcia, Christopher Cerda, and Adriana Cisneros.
The exhibit culminates paintings, photographs, and drawings expressing different aspects of the human experience. Christopher Cerda’s artwork shows a salient use of oil on canvas and colored and graphite pencils, ink, and acrylic on paper depicting prominent MMA fighters in various poses, displaying the “intensity and energy that a fighter emits.” Matthew J. Garcia works with oil on canvas and paper, creating personal narratives full of symbolic meaning with great skill to create a “platform that reflects [his] life and emotional state.” Adriana Cisneros has created a surreal realm in her photographs, displaying a world where the Cyclopes, who are “frail and melancholy beings dealing with the unfair society which has left them secluded” roam the earth,” creating a symbolic icon for depression.
The exhibit will be opening on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 6:30 PM. Please join us on the opening night, where light refreshments will be served, and you will have a chance to meet with the artists. The exhibit will run from April 19 through April 30. General admission is only $1.00.
