Dr. Buckler received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati.  He is an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Department.  He is also the current Director of the Border Studies Initiative.  He published two recent articles relevant to border studies that examined the correlates of public opinion toward enhanced control efforts to address illegal immigration into the United States.  He is currently involved in a research study that examines the impact of border violence and the military response to border violence in the Brownville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico area.
