Previous Experience:
Professor Karon L. Jahn has served as a University professor and administrator for over twenty-five years. Her specific teaching area is communication studies, with particular emphasis in public speaking, interpersonal communication, public relations, and issues management. She has learned, during her twenty-five years of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at four-year institutions in Alaska, Colorado, Hawai’i, Peoples Republic of China, and Texas that students who combine their individual academic and personal goals with service-learning experiences, are happiest and more successful.
Ms. Jahn has also served in senior level administrative positions, including Assistant Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dean of Students, Director of Admissions, Director of Master of Liberal Arts program, Director of Summer School programs, and Athletic Director for a Division II program. Serving in these positions allowed her to work with talented faculty and professional staff to create and implement writing-across-the-curriculum guidelines and requirements, experiential, theme-based learning communities, and freshman experience courses and workshops.
She loves adventure-travel, reading and writing, blues music, and hanging out at her log cabin in Talkeetna, Alaska.
