Biography:
Ela Newman is an assistant master technical instructor in developmental writing. She earned her M.A. in English literature and TEFL from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. She taught English at Torun’s Kosciuszko Preparatory School, and served as head of the school’s English Section for five years. Later, she worked for Whatcom Community College in the state of Washington, where she taught various ESL writing and grammar classes, and coordinated the Family Literacy Program. She has taught Composition as well as College Writing Skills courses at UTB's Department of English since 2004. Her academic interests focus on the writings of Joseph Conrad, Sappho’s poetry, second language grammatical transfer, and stylistic variation in contemporary English.
