Bio

Lupita Rodriguez Strong is a full-time lecturer currently teaching Composition I and Composition II. She earned both her B.A. and M.A. in English at the University of Texas at Brownsville. Her previous research has focused on the role of women during the British Regency and the marginalization of the Other in the postcolonial work of L. M. Montgomery. She presented papers on these topics at the English Graduate Advancement and Development Society (EGADS!) conference, “Literature: Its Pain, Its Pleasure,” in 2011 and “Bridges and Borders” in 2010.

Rodriguez Strong was born and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where she worked in, and eventually ran, her family’s bakery. She makes fabulous cakes with remarkable composition. She fell in love with the work of Jane Austen and all things British during her youth, believes travel is a requirement in life, and cannot resist pausing movies to explain context, setting, or make any other remarks which she thinks are relevant to her beloved daughter and any other unfortunate soul who is present. Rodriguez Strong lives in her very own version of Pemberley with her husband and family.
