Mrs. Cheryl L. Phelps
Assistant Professor/Assistant Dean
Modern Languages
Biography:
Since 1984 I have been instructing students of Spanish at UTB/TSC. I have taught Spanish courses at all levels at UTB/TSC, have assumed a leadership role in curriculum design, curriculum assessment, and have enjoyed long tenures serving as the chairperson of both the Modern Languages and College of Liberal Arts Undergraduate Curriculum Committees.
I reactivated and have served as co-advisor of Sigma Delta Pi National Hispanic Honor Society, Tau Chi Chapter, for 10 years. Concurrent with my faculty position in the Modern Languages Department, I also serve as Asst. Dean of Liberal Arts in the College of Liberal Arts here at UTB/TSC. My research interests include the portrayal of women in Spanish literature and in first and second-year textbooks for native speakers of Spanish, and the literature of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands.
