José Dávila-Montes teaches in and coordinates the A.A., B.A. and M.A. degrees in Spanish Translation and Interpreting at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He obtained his B.A. and M.A. in Translation and Interpreting as well as his Ph.D. in Translation and Cross-Cultural Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He also studied at Dublin City University (Ireland), Toyo University (Tokyo, Japan) and the State University of New York at Binghamton (New York), where he obtained an M.A. in Spanish Literature. He has taught translation since 1999, in several universities in Spain, Ireland and the U.S. Before teaching translation, he was an in-house translator and interpreter of Japanese language; a freelance translator and editor; and a senior editor, project manager and translator for a number of publishing companies in Spain. José Dávila is the director of the GUSTO Program.
