Musikgarten's programs awaken and develop your child's inborn joy and talent for making music. Early childhood (a time of rapid growth and brain development) is the optimal time to start this musical journey. Beginning with Family Music for Babies and continuing through Around the World and Keyboard, your child steps across that important bridge from general music learning to instrumental skill. Choose from Musikgarten's full spectrum of classes from birth to age 7, and share with your child the gift of music - the gift that lasts a lifetime.

FALL 2012 PRESCHOOL PROGRAM:

FAMILY MUSIC FOR BABIES (0 - 14 months and their parents) Twice a week 30 minutes for 6 weeks

Designed for parents and their babies to take together, these twice a week classes help you learn how to play musically with your baby. Each calss features bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, and other fun activities for the two of you. Usind rhythm sticks, a Musikgarten rattle, and colorful scarf will give you both hours of enjoyment.

FAMILY MUSIC FOR TODDLERS (15 months - 3 1/2 years) Twice a week 30 minutes for 6 weeks

Designed for parents and their toddler to take together, this class will stimulate the musical interaction between the adult caregiver and the toddler on many different levels. The class will also channel the toddler's energy productively, facilitate expression of feeling, assist in improving memory through repetition, and develop further musical aptitude and focused listening. They will sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments.

MUSIC MAKERS (3 1/2 - 4 1/2) Once a week 45 minutes for 13 weeks plus recital

This is a music class that introduces music literacy. Parents come in the first two classes, after that, only the last 10 minutes. The class includes activities that build on the child's growing independence and competencies;  and it also nurtures the children's ability to use language and capitalizes on their delight in dramatic play with musical content and piano activities.

AROUND THE WORLD AND KEYBOARD (5 - 7) Once a week 55 minutes for 13 weeks plus recital

This method for groups of young beginners features a variety of activities which lay the foundation for keyboard success. The program includes an aural approach to music learning, building on songs children have come to love. this provides a natural pathway to reading music while building a much-loved piano repertoire. The instructors will challenge students to play the song repertoire, develop keyboard technique, improve their aural skills, and become fluent music readers. In developing comprehensive musicianship at the keyboard, the children are building self-discipline and cooperation, learning to multi-track and concentrate which will help them in other areas of study.
